Saints beat Plato 5-1 to finish fourth in Section 8B
Plato, MN – The Dassel-Cokato Saints played their final Section 8B game Sunday in Plato, and defeated the Bluejays 5-1 to earn the fourth seed in the section playoffs.
The Saints finished the season with a 6-6 section record, and will play fifth-seeded Hutchinson (5-7 section) in the first round of the playoffs Saturday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. in Maple Lake.
Plato finished with a 2-10 record, and is the seventh seed, while Delano also finished 5-7 for the sixth seed. The top three seeds have not yet been decided, as Winsted (8-3 section) and Maple Lake (7-4 section) have one game left to play. That game will decide the seedings between those teams and St. Michael (8-4 section). Whoever ends up as the top seed will face Hamel, the automatic eighth seed, Saturday at 4 p.m. in Maple Lake. Delano will play the third seed at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 1 in Maple Lake, and Plato will face the second seed at 6:30 p.m.
Kings lose two in playoffs to end the season
Cokato, MN – The Cokato Kings lost both of their North Star League West playoff games to end their season with an overall record of 6-23.
Wednesday, July 21 the Kings lost a close 3-2 game against second-seeded Monticello. In their second game, which started Friday in Buffalo but ended Saturday in Cokato, the Kings fell to the Bulldogs 6-5.
DC high school fall eligibility meeting Aug. 12
The Dassel-Cokato High School fall eligibility meeting for all fall activities will take place Thursday, August 12 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center for all 7th-12th grade participants and their parents or guardians.
Eligibility paperwork packets and sports physical forms are now available outside the activities office when the building is open, or they can be accessed at DCHS website under “Activity Forms.”
All eligibility paperwork should be complete and turned in with the activity fee at the activity office by August 9. The office will be open and accepting paperwork and fees for a limited time during the night of the meeting, and will also be accepting from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. after team meetings in the high school commons.
A sports physical is required for all athletes (not Fine Arts), and generally is needed in 7th and 10th grade. This physical is good for three years.
After all eligibility requirements are met, the participant will receive an eligibility card that must be given to the coach before the participant will be allowed to begin practice.
The fee per activity is $60 for 7th and 8th graders, and $80 for 9th-12th graders, with an individual cap of $160. A parent or guardian volunteer sign-up will be available in the activities office. For every six events worked, the volunteer may choose to waive an activity fee, or receive a free season pass.
