Even though the Dassel Library is only 1,240 square feet in size, it opens into a whole world of information.

Books, magazines and tapes available in the Pioneer Library system, which the Dassel Library can access, are available. More than 500,000 books, magazines, newspapers and pamphlets are available through the system’s headquarters in Willmar, according to Head Librarian Sandy Ward.

“Library services include free use of the Internet, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint programs, summer reading programs for children, videos, DVDs, and books on tape to check out,” Ward added. “We are affiliated with Hutchinson, Litchfield, and Willmar public libraries.”

The library is also the recipient of donations, such as a recent donation from the Meeker County Horticulture Society, which donated money to the Dassel Library for expansion of their horticulture resources.

The club donated $300 for books on gardening, landscaping and wildlife habitats.

Library hours are Monday through Wednesday and Friday 2 to 5:30 p.m. and Thursday 1 to 7 p.m.
